Kelapa Laut
Coco de mer legenda dari Seychelles — dihargai dalam sup herba Kanton untuk kemampuannya yang mendalam dalam memelihara Yin Paru-paru, melembapkan kekeringan, dan menenangkan batuk kronik.

Apakah Kelapa Laut?
Sea Coconut (, Hǎi Dǐ Yē) is the translucent, jelly-like flesh of the coco de mer nut, produced by Lodoicea maldivica — the world's largest seed-producing plant, endemic to the Seychelles islands in the Indian Ocean. The fruit of this iconic palm takes 25 years to mature and can weigh up to 25 kg, making the coco de mer one of the most remarkable botanical specimens on earth. In Cantonese medicinal food culture, the dried or canned flesh of the sea coconut is a celebrated ingredient for Lung nourishment.
In TCM-influenced Cantonese dietary therapy, Hǎi Dǐ Yē is classified as sweet and cool, with a particular affinity for the Lung and Kidney channels. It is prized for its ability to nourish Lung Yin, moisten dryness, relieve chronic cough with scanty or difficult sputum, clear mild Lung heat and support throat health. It is a commonly prescribed food-herb for dry cough, hoarseness, throat soreness and the aftermath of febrile illness that has damaged Lung fluids. Its cooling, moistening, gentle nature makes it suitable for all ages and constitutions, and it forms the basis of many classic Cantonese nourishing soups.
Sejarah & Asal Usul
Coco de mer was known to Arab and Chinese traders long before the Seychelles were formally settled — the enormous nuts washed ashore across the Indian Ocean and were believed to grow at the bottom of the sea, inspiring the name 'sea coconut'. Its medicinal reputation in Cantonese herbalism developed alongside maritime trade routes.
Kegunaan Tradisional
Lung Yin Nourishment & Dry Cough
The primary application — Sea Coconut's moistening, cooling nature directly nourishes Lung Yin to relieve dry, unproductive cough, particularly post-illness or in dry-season conditions.
Throat Health & Hoarseness
Soothes throat dryness, soreness and hoarseness associated with Lung Yin deficiency or the aftermath of febrile illness, vocal overuse or dry environmental conditions.
Mild Lung Heat
The cool nature of Sea Coconut gently clears residual heat in the Lung channel, making it appropriate for conditions of mild irritation and dryness with heat signs.
Post-Illness Recovery
After febrile illness or respiratory infection has damaged Lung fluids, Sea Coconut restores moisture to the Lung, supporting recovery of voice, breathing ease and respiratory resilience.
Kidney & Anti-ageing Support
Its Kidney channel affinity lends gentle support to Kidney Yin, making it relevant in long-term anti-ageing and beauty-nourishing dietary formulas in Cantonese tradition.
